Getting your FAA medical exam is easy

Just follow the steps below

  1. You’ll need to create an account, enter some personal data and answer some medical history questions on the FAA’s MedXPress website. The FAA has created a simple instruction page which you can visit by clicking https://www.faa.gov/pilots/safety/pilotsafetybrochures/media/medxpress.pdf

  2. When you finish doing your part on the MedXpress website, you’ll be assigned a confirmation number. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT NUMBER

  3. Schedule an appointment by clicking the “Book Now” link on this website, OR click on this link: https://ptsipos.as.me/

  4. Please note that if you are requesting a Class 1 exam and are EITHER, 1) Doing your class 1 exam for the first time and are age 35 or over; OR 2) Age 40 or over — THEN you will need an EKG. If either of these apply to you, please choose the “FAA class 1 physical with EKG”. The EKG is a painless exam we will do in my office, taking 15 minutes or less, and comes with an extra charge.

  5. Please note that FAA exams do NOT include exams of breast, genitals or anus. Disrobing is not generally required, though I do need to do a visual inspection of the back, chest and abdomen for any evidence of large surgical scars. If any are present, these will need to be discussed. Women are NEVER asked to remove their bra. During the EKG, shirts will need to be removed, but bras are left in place. If you would like a chaperone for your exam, please notify me in advance, and one will be made available.

  6. Show up to your appointment with a FORM OF PHOTO IDENTIFICATION (DRIVER LICENSE, MILITARY ID, PASSPORT, ETC)

  7. Please be advised that ALL FAA medical exams require you to provide a urine sample, which you can provide in the restroom conveniently located adjacent to our office (I’ll provide the urinalysis cup). The FAA requires that we check only for sugar and protein in the urine. These are routine screening tests for diabetes and kidney disease.

    Drug testing is NOT performed.

  8. I recommend you set up a free telephone consultation so you and I can review your medical history, saving valuable time during your in-person visit.

  9. If you need help or have questions, just give me a call at 801-791-9078, text me a message, or email me at ptsipos@utahflightmed.com

  10. You can pay with credit card (chip, swipe or tap) or with Apple Pay when your appointment is complete. Rest assured, you will not be charged until your physical is submitted to the FAA.

  11. If you have NO conditions that require special review by the FAA, you will receive your medical certificate at the end of your appointment.
